Re-Crafting Mata-ki-Chunnis into Wedding Dresses

A proud moment! Goonj Founder Mr. Anshu Gupta has been awarded the Social Stalwart award at the CEO Awards 2019 for making a significant social impact. Our endeavor at SewaRoshni is to collect and contribute clothes, shoes, and books for Goonj again. As a part of our ongoing projects.

The upcoming visit is special to us as it marks our very first attempt to collect Mata-ki-chunnis"(beautiful drapes offered to adorn the goddess in Hindu temple) which shall be re-structured and beautiful lehenga-skirts will be crafted out. These are them subsequently used for the wedding outfits of underprivileged. Usually, after they are removed from the goddesses on festivals and then remain unused. 

We attempt to re-craft them and send to the girls who need them the most. We look forward to interacting with Mr. Gupta and the Goonj team again. It is indeed a learning experience every time.
